Today I Died
The recycling has been piling up and since I am leaving on Wednesday I finally put it into my car (OMG it was in my car) and drove to the grocery store where I picked up the box (eye level here) flipped it over, and DIED.
I screamed so loud the entire parking lot turned to look at me and suddenly the 90 degree weather felt more like 200 degrees and I hopped around and tried to keep breathing. But the problem was, I wanted the box, its a nice size recycling box and I don't have another one. So I braved up the courage to flip the box over and pick it up and where does the stupid cockroach run? RIGHT TOWARD ME! [insert more bloody murder screams] I chucked the box and myself into the car, picked up my phone, called Matt, informed him I'm moving. :)

Sorry the pictures aren't close...if you thought I was getting closer you are out of your mind!!!

Drive to New Orleans
Saturday Morning Matt and I drove from Houston to Baton Rouge where we met up with Jason and Lori. Then the four of us drove down to New Orleans.
It rained and rained and rained and rained on the drive over there, making the normal causeways look even more gross. We drove over swamp and lake and swamp and lake until you could no longer tell the difference between them. Here is a picture where you enter onto the causeway. Looks like a ski lake to me...
but really it is just this for miles and miles:

We got about 10 miles from the Mississippi River when....we stopped moving. Our ETA kept getting later and later and later... We finally made it over the bridge, and decided to take our own detour, which led us into the capitol parking lot. It reminded me of when we ended up in the Iowa emergency room parking lot, and the OHare airport arrivals. Anyway, we forged our own path to their house and the Jetta was still clearing the water level on the roads. So all was well.

Then we drove with Jason and Lori to New Orleans, where I was convinced we were going to be stranded in a flood and never to be seen again. We got to our hotel - right on the corner of Burbon Street, checked in and made our way out in the rain. Thankfully after an hour or so it quit raining!

Amusing
While researching for AirMe I came across this news article headline and it made me laugh. I think I would buy gas from them just because of it.
Besides gas prices being rediculously high, so is the temperature around here. I was thinking the other day (yes shock I know) that I have never drank so much water in my entire life, and because of that I have never peed so much in my entire life. I think my Berkas genes are finally coming out in full force. Consequently, anyone want to buy me more toilet paper? I guess the cost of living in Houston is that and deodorant.
I was thinking about registering at the grocery store. Is that possible? I mean think about it, do you know how happy I would be if i unwrapped a present and it was 10 bottles of V8 Fusion? Or unlimited supply of goldfish? Okay, I am daydreaming now...

Tuesday at the Lake
Yesterday Matt and I went out to Cypress to go skiing at Bob's Lake again. It is nice we keep getting invited, but my hands and body kill me from 3 times in 6 days! I will still miss it when I go home for the next week though. Anyway, this sight displayed on the drive there.
This is Bob's dock.
This is lake one, where we normally ski on. There are two more lakes to the right.
The discussion at the lake yesterday was how this has been the hottest spring they have had in a long time (has been in 90s everyday for 2 weeks now). Figures. So all this temputure shouldn't surprise you when I say that the lake water temperature was NINETY DEGREES. That is right...the water temperature. Put on some jets and we've got ourselves a real big hot tub. Ha.

Skiing with the Irish
Sunday morning Matt and I got lost on our way to Katy. Then we drove to Lakes of Katy and went skiing with another Shell couple here from Ireland. They were very nice to invite us out to ski with them - all four of us skiied and tricked. They brought out cheese and crackers, it was kinda amusing. It was SO HOT (100 degrees in the shade) so we drank a ton of water. It was a long day (we are both sore and hot) but it is fun to ski.
I don't remember what we did when we got back, probably vegged. Today we went on another bike ride in the hot hot hot hot hot hot ness outside and then played some Mario Kart. Not too exciting around here.
