Bridesmaid Dress Pictures

On Sunday (before my eventful tornado experience), Jessica, Aubrey and I went dress shopping. I basically sat there and did nothing while they found and tried on dresses. We went to 5 different stores and at the last one in Cherry Creek we found a dress!

Here is the dress, Aubrey has the straps on and Jessica has them off.

It has pockets!
Now I am not ordering it in grey or blue - instead the above two colors are my choices. The dress takes 4 months (isnt that insane???) so I guess I best decide pretty soon!

I know this last picture is tiny, but its from the website - just wanted to show you that there was a bow on the back of it too.

TORNADO!!!!!!

Sunday, Jessica, Aubrey and I went bridesmaid dress shopping and we had quite a fun day. Jessica and I started driving south (to home) and stopped to get her car at the parking lot where we left it. People were taking pictures of the clouds and we were laughing at them until we decided to look up, and sure enough there was a tiny little tornado cloud in the sky, and so I thought it was kinda exciting - I'd never seen a tornado before. So we get (in 2 cars) back on the highway and I call Mom to brag about my tornado and as I am talking it gets darker...and bigger...

I hang up on my mom and quickly call Jessica (car in front of me) and we are like AHHHHH DRIVE FASTER. Cars were lined up along the side of the road taking pictures of it, and Jess and I were just trying to get AWAY from it. The tornado was on the ground 15-20 minutes, and very uncharacteristicly was at a stand still (not moving in any direction). All the sudden it started hailing badly and that was really scary because big hail on car is loud - with a tornado in the background ahhh! So Jessica and I got off at the first exit and tried to head west (tornado on the east side of the highway). We eventually (20 minutes) drove out of the hail to just rain and were feeling a little more confident. We turned from Wolfensburger road to 105 and ....stopped. We pulled up next to each other... "is that what i think it is..." ANOTHER ONE!! AHHH!!!

We had (in our own cars) 850 KOA on and they are like... "just saying another tornado has been spotted in Sedalia" (right where we were) so Jessica and I booked it outa there - outrunning two tornados within an hour is SCARY. As we got closer to Perry Park I was starting to feel relieved when all the sudden hail again, and HARD. Not as big of pieces, but tons of them, and I was behind a little old man, which I would have passed had it been anyone else. I didn't want to give him any more of a heart attack than I'm sure he was already having.

I was glad to be safe and sound at home and Jessica and I immediately got out the cookie dough! Then my mom asked about dresses, to which I had completely forgotten about with all the excitement!

Wii Fit and Olympics

Friday morning Matt and I were really lazy, and he was playing on my iPhone calling stores seeing if they had the Wii Fit. We have been doing this on and off since it came out in May so I was tuning him out. All the sudden he goes "you do?" and then "what store am I talking to" and within three minutes we were dressed and out the door. Wal-mart it was and we got there quick so we were able to get one! It was very exciting. We brought it home, moved the table and couch and as you can see, wore ourselves out.

We also went to pick up my car at Shell, and I finally went inside to see his office (it occurred to me that after six plus months of living down here I probably better stop putting that off).

The remainder of the weekend has been spent in front of the tv watching the Olympics. The highlight by far came Sunday night around 10:30pm when the USA swam for the 4x100 freestyle relay. I was kinda slouched on the couch when in the final 50 Lezak started to overcome the french and oh man, Matt and I were screaming. I knocked over the table in my attempt to get closer to the tv. My favorite gold medal by far.

Breakfast Time!

The question is ... Who will get there first?

Bowling, Biking, Dave's, Skiing

This past weekend was a busy one! On Friday night we went with other Shell kids to the bowling alley where Matt and I started off well and got worse. We played 3.5 games - he beat me 2 games to 1, but I was leading that last one when we ran out of time.

On Saturday morning we loaded the bikes in the back of the Jeep and drove to our normal path. It was so hot (found out this morning the heat is because a hurricane is coming in...). We went for an hour, which is pretty good, but not the whole path. We will have to work up to that in the fall when it is a little cooler.

Saturday afternoon Misty came over and we hung out at the pool for awhile. It was HOT there too. She told us all their nightmare stories about moving out of this apartment ($5 for every nail hole in the wall...etc) so that is not something I am looking forward to. Our lease is up in February, so at least I got awhile.

We took a much needed nap and then headed over to Dave's house for the end of the 2nd season softball party. I only played one game, but I got invited anyway! The new nifty iphone has traffic included which is GREAT, Houston traffic is awful. Unfortunetly it doesn't force you to open it and look at it when you get into the car, and it does no good when you are already stuck in the traffic. Example:

C: "the highway is stopping...."
M: "oh lets look at traffic on the phone...oh yes...it shows all red"

Sunday morning we very slowly woke up, and I tackled all the coupons I had around the house and in the Sunday paper. Then we headed off to the grocery store (something that hasn't been done in awhile - we even had no cereal!). I saved 13 dollars in coupons and 30 dollars buying on sale foods wooo! Matt didn't think this was as exciting as me (he didn't cut all the coupons) when we racked up a very large grocery bill.

We made steak, rice and broccoli for Matt's Birthday dinner and it was very good. (Dispite being his birthday he had to grill outside in the 100+ degree heat.) I got Matt a new trick handle for his birthday (and myself a new rash guard...for his birthday?) and we were both excited to use them! We then packed up our ski equipment - well most of it (forgot the lifejackets) - and drove out to Katy to ski with Carl.

It is getting darker...

By the time I skiied and Carl skiied it was lightening like crazy and birthday boy didn't get to go. We DID use the iphone this time and watched the storm come in, although the storm came in just about as fast as my internet did so we had to quick hide. One bad thing about only having a lot on the lake is no place to go! Would have taken more pictures of the waves, wind, and whitecaps, but didn't want to get the phone soaked! So I held the end of the trick handle while Matt practiced toe tricks. Didn't work too well...

We came back and Brian came over to be a bum with us and play Boom Blox and Mario Kart. As Matt puts it "you come over, eat my food, drink my beer and beat me at my own video games".

It was a good busy weekend, and Peanut was tired! Haha. I love taking pictures of my kitties.

Tropical Storm Eduoard (why they couldn't spell that right is beyond me) is coming towards us, so Matt instructed me to finish our hurricane box. I don't think it is going to hit us very hard, but we shall see. Supposed to hit land tomorrow so they are clearing out Galveston and the North coast of Texas and the West coast of Lousiana.
