Garden of the Gods

This morning Matt and I drove down to Garden of the Gods in the Springs to hike.

Matt is hiding underneath the Siamese twins rocks.

It was good, really hot. We walked around for hour and a half then went and hung out at Mike's to watch a variety of games.

Warm Saturday in September

Today we watched Michigan and MSU football on our two tvs set up downstairs. Michigan won (but tried not to), and State didn't play defense at all.

After that we went to the lake where Matt, Dad and I skiied. Here is Matt showing off his "black bandit" outfit.

Dad also caught two nice rainbow trout on his fly rod.

We watched 30-second refresh Tigers winning (phew) and now the Rockies losing. How come both the playoff races that I care about are the only two that are close?

Last Day of Summer - SNOW

Since Mary and Dave are gone, we have the puppies.

It started snowing this morning...

So I built a snowman!

Happy last day of summer!

Old Stone Church and Berkas Farm

On Sunday morning we woke up and drove down to Kenyon, Minnesota for the 150th reunion of the Hauge Luthern Church. Here is Matt, Laura and I enjoying the drive down there.

Matt teasing Laura about her not being a farmer.

Grandpa being the tour guide.
Here we are outside the Old Stone Church.

The back of the church.
Here are the graves of my Great-Grandmother Ceceila Berkas and my Great Uncle Chester Berkas.
And lots of other related people to me are buried there in the Anonby and Buer family.
Then we drove down the road to see the farm!

Here we are being good farmers and harvesting our soy beans.

Me and my soy beans.
Matt trying to pretend he is a farmer now that we are married. (He isn't).
Laura pouting because she is not a farmer.

Excited about the farm!
From there we drove to the new church where they had this nice old car sitting out front.

After church they had a party of sorts. The cake was pretty cool.

Here is Grandpa, Ted and Dee enjoying lunch!

After lunch we went back to the Old Stone Church to go inside. (Ted had to pull some strings for us). Here is Matt practicing his preaching.

This picture is taking from the balcony.

Grandpa, Grandma, Dee, Ted.

Then Laura and I went and played in the corn fields.
After all that we drove back to the airport, and flew back to Denver.

Tigers vs Twins at the Metrodome

On Saturday we got up bright and early and drove to DIA to fly to MSP. Here is Matt on the airplane enjoying a bagel and sporting his Tigers shirt.

Here we are excited for our trip!

We landed in MSP, got a car, and drove to the Metrodome.

Here we are pouring beer on the Twins...

Eating our free chips outside.

We started off sitting down the third base line.

Then moved behind home plate.
Grandma and Mom.

The Tigers choked in the bottom of the 8th for a depressing finish to the game. :( They won on Sunday though. The Metrodome is very loud and the ceiling is very evil, but next year they are moving to Target Field - outside - so they won't be any good.

After the game we went back to Tom and Carols and had dinner and hung out before crashing.
