Bye Bye Pudge

The Tigers traded Pudge to the Yankees yesterday : ( I guess that means Inge gets to start at catcher full time, which is good I guess but I liked him playing 3rd, but Guillen is my favorite player and he plays 3rd, so it is hard for me all around.

All I can say is I'm glad he didn't go to Boston. Maybe Pudge can help the Yanks beat that awful awful team!

Magic

The other post was the email feature off airme. This is email off my
pictures. Magic has been very friendly lately.

Mario Kart 64

Saturday morning Paul pulled out Mario Kart 64 and started to play. To my dismay he is better than me! AHHHH! I obviously need to put away the wii and get back to practicing. One thing about the Wii is that when you finish the cup, you can start over - in 64 you have to get up and turn the system off and back on. Anyway, so while doing that the screen came up with Copyright 1996. That was TWELVE years ago. Paul and I discussed how we have been playing this for more than half our lives. What other game have I consistently (or any) played for 12 years? We also noticed (from lack of playing the 64 version) how completely pixilated it is. Its actually funny, but still oh so much fun.

Makes me miss McCrary.

Wild West

The iphone doesn't have a flash...

On Sunday the 6 of us went to Wild West for 2-step lessons. (We might need about 15 lessons to figure it out). Anyway, I figured out you can rotate the phone and it actually does take the picture sideways... We were by far the youngest people there, but the bar was really crowded for a Sunday night..and the dance floor was PACKED. We were probably the only people buying beer because everyone else never left the floor.

We were not very good...
I just can't resist taking pictures of my kitties. Here is Peanut and Matt eating lunch yesterday.
Matt is giving me the "your cat needs some manners" look. I think Peanut is just adorable!

Lazy Pool Days

On Friday, Andrea and Ryan came down to visit and on both Friday and Saturday we went to the pool to hang out. Here are some pictures.

Saturday Paul was over and he joined the group.

Matt and Ryan being nerds. Normally there are 3 small squirts of water...

Saturday we grilled hamburgers and hotdogs at the pool grill (after some random dude had to show us how to turn it on).

iPhone!

Friday morning Matt and I woke up at 630, left by 7, and was at the Houston Galleria Mall at 7:30. The Apple store there opened at 8...but we were still the 40th person in line! When they opened at 8 they came out and said they had enough for the crowd there and handed us all a little piece of paper that said we officially got one. By about 9:30 we got to the front of the line to sign up for AT&T (ick!) and got the phone! We left the Galleria by 10 and were home by 10:30. So a 4 hour adventure to get the phone, but it is worth it. Matt and I play with it a lot, but neither one of us knows how to work it all that well. Oh, by the time we left there was another 100 people in line behind us.

On Sunday I went back to the Galleria to shop around with Andrea, her brother and his girlfriend. I walked past the Apple store, and they must have gotten another shipment in, because here is the line!

The store is on the right, and the line wraps around the "bridge" to the other side. We started where the end of the line is now (on the left).

Back in Texas

Well, Matt and I returned to Texas last night. Traveling took forever, but everything went very smoothly and both of my kitties were very glad to see me. Okay, Peanut was more excited to have the magic fridge feed her again. Magic did not believe in letting me sleep, instead continually smacked me until I would pet her. Then just as I would fall asleep - SMACK! I guess I deserve it, they have been lonely.

It is HOT here. Walking off the plane was like hitting a wall. I guess I will have to get used to the heat again. It is very lonely, but I have been keeping busy doing AirMe and wedding stuff. I, very like Peanut, miss the magic fridge. PBJ doesn't taste all that good after a couple weeks of great eating.

Hurricane season is here, so we are supposed to keep our gas tanks and pantrys full. I guess one of these days I should go get some supplies to be prepared. Hopefully the season comes and goes without anything, because if it comes for real, I might just go with it...

Update for Nick

Nick has been bugging me for an update sooo.

Last Wednesday Matt and I flew to Michigan from Houston. We ended up in Cleveland, which wasn't very fun. Due to weather and lack of pilots, we didn't land in Detroit until after midnight. We slept in late and then drove to Jackson where Matt's cottage didn't have power.

Friday we went to Grand Haven/Spring Lake to spend the 4th with the Haverkates. Saturday morning we drove back and spent the next two days in Jackson. Sunday Matt went home to Texas to see my babies and I drove up north.

It has been cold up here, I went skiing this morning and it was only 50 degrees. Probably a little less cold than the 90 that Matt is skiing in in Texas with Bob.

On Tuesday my mom, Carol, Mary, Andrea, Allison and Laura went wedding dress shopping. Four hours later I bought one! I know, that was quick, but I liked it and so did my 6 posse members so I decided to be done with it. I ordered it and it will come for my first "fitting" at Christmas time. It is very pretty. Yup.

Just hanging out up north at the Lodge. Only 19 of us up here now - more come this weekend.

New Orleans

I will post pictures when I get them.

We got to New Orleans and parked and went into our hotel room, which was very nice and perfectly located. Then we walked a few blocks in the rain to Pat Os where we started the night with some catfish and shrimp appetizers. We then got a little walking tour of the area, checking out the square and statues and the Levey along the Mississippi River. From there we made our way to a very nice restaurant/pub/brewery where Jason and Lori are having their rehearsal dinner. I actually liked the beer that they made! Matt and I split crab cakes and ribs, and both were very very good.

We went back to the hotel for a little bit, and the rain stopped! Then we explored Burbon Street, which had the perfect amount of people there. I would never go on a holiday when it is packed, it was very nice to be able to walk into a bar and go use their balcony without being crowded. There are quite a few weirdos in New Orleans, and it took some getting used to to walk past a cop in the street with a drink in my hand.

Sunday we got up early and went to McDonalds breakfast drive through on our driving tour of Charles St (i think). Seeing the nicer parts of town, the colleges and expensive houses. We then drove to some swamp area where we had an Airboat tour set up.

It was HOT and HUMID, but we had a great time. Matt had never been on an airboat, or be that close to the gators, so that was fun to watch. Our coonass guide seemed to know what he was doing and to be enjoying himself as well. He reached in the water and grabbed a soft shell crab that was pretty blue. Then we crossed over some bank into fresh water where we met Big Al a 12', 600lb alligator that had a liking for Lori. He climbed into the boat past his front little legs which got Lori the name "scary" from our guide. The guide also reached in and caught a baby alligator from the brush that we all got to hold. It was a cutie, but didn't like being held.

Continuing we "parked" next to bird city where there was nest after nest of eggs and baby birds. They were cute and white and fuzzy and SO many of them. (we were all drenched in sweat by this point...lovely i know). The guide showed us a variety of different flowers. Matt's favorite plant was the big "lilypads" that were completely waterproof. We saw a ton more alligators swimming about and our guide decided to reach into an alligator nest and pull out an egg to show us. He says they gather the eggs and sell them for $25/egg. Not bad.

We had a great time, our hour tour lasted over 1.5 hrs and none of us died from the heat, although we stopped for powerade on the way back.

After returning to Baton Rouge Matt and I wanted to fall asleep forever, but we drove the five+ hours back to Houston. On my turn to drive it POURED so bad it was scary. The jetta, while getting great gas mileage (32mpg), does not have a lot of weight and I thought we were going to blow away or float away with all the water on the road!

Anyway, it was a great weekend, a very good New Orleans experience.
