Eventful Carwash

I went to the carwash down the street today.  While I was waiting for my car to be done a firetruck and police car showed up.  I was confused.  The firemen walked over to a guy laying on the ground.

An ambulance showed up too and took the man away.  It was all kinda odd.  But did add some excitment to my car wash trip!

Weekend Activities

Friday afternoon Matt and I went to Macy's and registered for some things there for our wedding.  We must have looked a little lost because a lot of workers kept asking if we needed any help.  They had this table where you could bring items to see how it all fit together.  So many choices, but we picked some things out.  We also updated our other two registries online (Bed Bath and Beyond and Target).

Afterwards we went to Pappadouex Seafood for a very nice date!  We sat at the bar for a little bit waiting for a table, and we watched the oyster men cut them open.  They were going quick.  Turns out that Texas oysters were on sale (1/2 dozen for 3 bucks) so Matt and I ordered them as an appitizer too.  They were slimy.  We got some good seafood and had an enjoyable night out.  We came home and watched the new Monk on TV (exciting I know) - Monk gets shot!

Saturday was a pretty uneventful day.  Got some chores done around the house, paid the bills and overall didn't do much during the day.  OH I guess the highlight was stamping all my wedding programs.  The outsides are now finished, I just need the program guts!  We went to Buffalo Wild Wings with Brian to watch Michigan play OSU in basketball (we lost) and then went to a house party with some of the kids from Shell.  It was a good time.

Today was so nice outside.  Sunny and perfect.  So we sat outside on the cement for awhile enjoying the sun.  The cats were thrilled to be outside for so long.  Peanut must have worn herself out tanning that she came inside, crawled in bed and slept for the next 6 hours.  The poor Eagles lost :( which was very sad, and was a very nervous game :(  NFL brings nothing but sadness :(  I will be cheering for Arizona as the underdogs in the Super Bowl.  Maybe that will make it a little better.

Matt made us some mini English Muffin pizzas for dinner.  They were very good.  We ate them while watching the Baltimore Pitt game, but I don't have much preference for who wins.  Peanut tried to take advantage of the TV distraction to get her little (literally) head under my arm into the pizza.  If I had another hand (one holding pizza, one holding back Peanut) I would have taken a picture.  But everyone that has met Peanut knows she has oh-so-good manners when food is around.

Not too much planned for this week.  Maybe I will find something fun to post about, never know.  I will enjoy the weather here though - it is great!

PS.  This Sports Illustrated article isn't new, but I thought it was very well written.

New Couches!!!!

Matt and I have been talking about getting new couches for awhile. We looked on Craigs list once, but didn't find anything. Before Christmas we went to 3 different stores, but didn't see anything we liked at any of them either. So while watching the Eagles win on Sunday, Matt searched again on Craigs list and we came across an ad for couches that might be nice. He called up the listing and we drove over there to look at them. We liked them so Matt made an offer and she accepted it! We were very excited! So yesterday Matt and I brought the trusty (hehe) Jeep to the Uhaul store and hooked us up with a big ole trailer. (renting a trailer is cheaper than renting a truck). So after having a quick dinner of tuna noodle, we drove off to get our couches!

I missed a step already... Before the UHaul, we moved the old couches into the hallway area to make room for the new ones. Peanut refused to get off the old one all day (I think she knew it was going byebye) and Magic found the whole moving furniture very curious.

We carried the new couch into the family room and Peanut instantly attack!!! Don't worry she doesn't have claws.

The lady gave us her 8 custom made pillows that went with the couch as well.

Peanut, you aren't hiding from anyone...
They take up a lot more room than our old couches, but they are very nice. Matt loves the high backs on them, and I think they make our family room look very nice. We are excited to try them out - by watching part 2 of 24 tonight. (The first part is still giving me nightmares). I might have to take the cushions off the couch and build a fort with them for old times sake :)

Car Problems

Yesterday (Friday) I went to go to the grocery store, and sure enough Jeep wouldn't start. Sad, but not surprised. I knew this day would come. Matt and I pushed the Jeep out of the driveway, and the AAA man jumped it for us. It died. Jumped it again. Died. Deduced the battery was dead, but not sure how it died (nothing was left on or open). My auto lights flash on and off whenever they feel like, and they have been known to do that even when the car is off, but they just flash they don't stay on. So unless it flashed a lot and a lot and a lot while I was gone for the past 9 days, I have no other reason to think why the battery died.

Anyway, this battery was bought by Anthony at a Van Wert, OH ski tournament when the battery died (that was from running the lights on a cold rainy night). I thought he bought it at WalMart so Matt (after very kindly taking the battery out for me) and I went to Walmart to be shot down there. So we went to Napa because I don't like the Walmart down here (too shady), and they told me that the battery came from AutoZone. I didn't know there was an AutoZone in Van Wert, but sure enough we went to AutoZone (good thing Walmart, Napa and AutoZone are within a mile of each other) and saw the battery brand. Smart Anthony put the warrenty under my phone number, so I got a small discount. We signed up for an Auto Zone members card because in the past few months Matt and I have replaced 1 turn signal, 2 headlights, 2 batteries and 2 air filters.

Matt put my new battery back into my car and it started! Then died :( Not a good sign. We are now going to go drive it around (complete with cell phone and AAA card handy) and see if it will stay on. Thinking it might be something else, Matt says it won't stay revved (RPMs just drop to 0). To think I used to have a problem with the RPMs shooting up to 5....

To Be Continued...

New Years 2009

Happy New Year!

Matt and I flew to Colorado on New Years Eve Night, and Andrea came and got us at the airport. We missed the ball dropping for the first time since I can remember, (not home yet) and then was in bed under the covers before the strike of midnight. Exciting... As this was Matt's 4th New Years with me, he wasn't too surprised at our lack of excitement. (I think he found running timing tests on the toaster up north more exciting).

New Years we didn't do anything too exciting, watched a lot of football games and just hung out. Friday I picked up my purple bridesmaid dresses (they are so pretty!) and met Aubrey and Brandon for lunch and bowling. (None of us are very good at that). Then Matt and I met Andrea and my parents in CR to see the movie Marley and Me. It was so good, so cute, cried my eyes out. I want to see it again, but Matt tells me I have to wait for it to come to our dollar theater across the street.

Saturday Matt, Andrea, Tim, Jeff and I went skiing at Vail. It took us awhile to drive up there, I kept telling Jeff "lights on for safety!" and we saw a big family of big horn sheep. That was cool. We skiied some at Vail, it was snowy that day, and then afterwards drove over to our house in Beaver Creek. Mom, Dad, Coal met us there and I believe we watched some more football...oh yes...the Colts lost. :( Later that night Mankas, Dave, Mary, Jessica, Maggie showed up. Kim and Hunter also came for the night, and we played none other than Winnie the Pooh Go Fish! It was fun (Hunter won) and then we played Phase 10.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we went skiing at Beaver Creek. It was COLD. Lots of coming back to the house to stick toes under Coal, who warmed them up in no time. Lots more watching football (a real close game for awhile with the Eagles, and a real close game with Texas, thankfully both winning).

Tuesday we drove back down to Larkspur (This time telling Dave "lights on for safety!" ...however he didn't understand) and just vegged out the rest of the day Tuesday. The evening highlight was watching the MSU/OSU basketball game. Dad declared it the perfect party and seconds later the feed went out and ESPN switched to a different basketball game. Later telling us "they are headed in the right direction" of getting the game back on. Funny funny.

Wednesday Matt and I met with Linda (travel agent) to book our honeymoon to Tahiti!!!!! We put down our deposit and are very excited for our adventure! We will leave Detroit Monday night after our wedding and then spend a week in the South Pacific before heading back to Houston. Should be a good time! After some of the best lunch in the entire world (South Garden) Matt and I headed to the airport (thanks Mom) and sat there for awhile because our flight was delayed. Then home it was, to see my kitties who I missed oh so much.

I woke up last night to Magic an inch from my face "well hello there" and Peanut pressed up against my side. I guess they missed me too :)

Thats it for now!
