Yakima

Matt and I have lots of toys that we want with us while everything else we own is going into storage.  So we decided to use some of the money that Shell gave us for moving costs to buy a topper for the Jeep!  We plan to load it up with our water ski gear so the cats have a little more room on the road trip back to Denver.

Peanut Tongue

Peanut sleeps with her tongue hanging out and it is the cutest thing.  I tried to get some pictures to show you.  Sometimes it is really hanging out, but gotta take pictures when I can!

She really likes her seat on the couch with the princess blanket.  If Matt or I are in her spot she will sit and cry at it until we move.  Such a spoiled little kitty.

Matt Skiing Faces

I am not alone in making awful faces while skiing, so here are some of Matt's!

This first one is my favorite from this year.  To see my alltime favorite, click here. It is the last picture of the post.  Some of these (like the one below) you need to click on to make them bigger to get the full effect.

Caroline Skiing Faces

These pictures are from a few weeks ago, and I was looking for the trick ones, but I guess they aren't posted.  So, slalom it is.  I have seen the full size of these pictures, and man I make some ugly faces while skiing.  Sheila took about 50 pictures of me during this set, and I really need to work on my facial expressions while skiing.  And turning before the ball, not after...but that is a different problem.

Beef Jerky + Baton Rouge + Beer

I will post about our KY trip if anyone ever sends me pictures.  But on Sunday, Danny's parents drove us back to the Louisville airport so we could fly back home.

After we took off on our little 1-2 plane they handed out snack packs.  Matt and I are such losers, we get them and go AWESOME!!!  BEEF JERKY!!!!  The flight attendant just looked at us like we were out of our minds.  But how awesome is that?  When have you gotten beef jerky on a flight?
Now it was a pretty bumpy flight, but since I had just flown from Austin to Houston on that awful of a flight, it wasn't the worst in my recent memory.  They said that originally we were being re-routed around Arkansas because of a storm there, but after we took off they allowed us to fly that way "so it would be more bumpy but shorter".  We should have taken the longer route.  Anyway, we couldn't see much out the window at all, just like we were flying through the clouds constantly.  Then the pilot comes on the speaker and informs us that we went through an electric field and the instruments went all wacko and there was smoke in the cockpit.  Hmm.  So we are landing in Baton Rouge in 5 minutes.  Matt blames me.

We landed on the runway, shortest landing ever, then made a quick turn and cut across the other runways (I got the feeling that the airport was closed for the night by this time), and out my window...

Fire truck!!!!!!!  Wow.  Then they parked and let us off - with police escorts!  Matt and I are once again being nerds and taking pictures of the police.  They are giving us "get walking buddies" looks, but whatever.
We sat inside for about an hour and then we stole a plane that was scheduled to fly out in the morning.  It wasn't horrible delay for all the adventure, but Matt and I were excited to get back at a normal time, but that didn't happen.  On the flight from Baton Rouge to Houston they gave us free drinks!  I was all excited about the free drinks and Matt is "I'd take the 2 hours of my life back over the free drink".  But who needs the debbie downer?

We got home and got our car (last one in the bus, first one off...nice) and played with the kitties for a few minutes before passing out.  Only one more time flying "back" to Houston!

Lake Imagination

Lake Imagination!

In celebration of Jeff, Andrea, Matt and I all being in the same general area, my parents have bought a lot on this lake in Larkspur.  It is more like Greenland, because it is about 1/2 hour from their house in Larkspur.  Anyway.

The lake has a slalom course down the length of it and an extra "tumor" area that can be used for swimming, non power sports, wakeboarding, tubing, fishing, etc.

There is a turn island at one end.

From the top of this rock where these pictures are taken you can see a long way (Pikes Peak).  I have skiied there once a few years ago, and my parents have been out to check it out a lot lately.  The views are very good they say.

We are very excited to get a boat and get skiing!  The elevation is 7200 feet, so it will be a little colder than the 80 degree water that we are skiing in right now.  But once this lake freezes over we can switch skiing sports and move onto the next one!

This is just a lot, we don't plan on building a house on it or anything.  Hopefully in the future we will build a bathroom :)  Closing is at the end of the month, so hopefully everything goes through!  Come visit...Matt will teach you how to ski!  (He has volunteered himself as Head Maintenance to earn the right to ski there.  I have volunteered him as Head Coach as well).
